Let’s Go Pens!

I’ve mentioned many times that I love Pittsburgh Penguin hockey.  I thought tonight I would share some pictures to show you how much I really love it.  I grew up in a small town about an hour south of Pittsburgh.  From third grade through my senior year of high school, we had season tickets for the Penguins.

Most of these pictures are from the last few years.  I could write a novel of all the memories I have of the Pens.

My dad took me to my first Penguin game in 1993.  That same year, when I was in 3rd grade, I wrote a book report about Mario Lemieux’s biography.  A few years later I had the opportunity to meet Mario himself.  Lovely outfit, I know!

I got Tony hooked on the sport and he became a fan at the right time, just before the Pens won the Cup in 2009!

My love of hockey comes from my Dad.  I have so many great memories of going to games with him while I was growing up.  I was with him the night he bought this wig.  We were at a game and during the intermission he came back with this wig.  I was embarrassed at first but it eventually became the lucky wig and I would call him during the playoffs to make sure he was wearing it.

Our wedding had a Black & Gold theme to it.  The guys all wore hockey jerseys for the rehearsal.

My dress had a photo shoot in my bedroom at my parents house.  Yes, that is MY bedroom, not a boys bedroom.  I have Penguins wallpaper and many types of memorabilia hanging on the walls

Of course the wig had to make an appearance!

One of my favorite parts of our wedding was our beautiful Yellow Orchid cake!

Our wedding party was all dressed in black and yellow!  The funny part about the yellow flowers is that I had originally planned on having orange flowers but 2 weeks before the wedding I changed my mind and completely changed the whole color scheme to black and yellow!

The night before our wedding the Penguins lifted their 2009 Stanley Cup Champions Banner into the rafters of Mellon Arena.  We were lucky enough to have a replica of the Cup at our wedding in the form of an ice sculpture!

The day after our wedding we stood in line for over 5 hours to take pictures with the Stanley Cup!

My parents had 2 tickets to the Pictures With Stanley event and they were gracious enough to give them to Tony & I.  We drove to Pittsburgh that afternoon, checked into a hotel, put our wedding attire back on and stood line in for these great photos.  It was definitely something I will never forget!

We even named our dog Crosby, after the great Sidney Crosby!

Time for me to go cheer on the Pens!
